Because I'm well into holiday-induced laziness and have no desire to re type it, here it is in bullet form.
- Canada Day fireworks are just as good as Sydney's Australia Day fireworks, reaffirming Ottawa as a world-class city, in a public-servanty kind of way
- the first three minutes of fireworks didn't actually go off. It just started to get funny and then they must have used stronger matches. Hooray! Weak start, solid finish.
- our fireworks are more humble, patriotic. Sydney's were lit off while some DJ I've never heard of blasted today's club bangers. These people use the light show to party!
- they shoot fire and explosions from a cockatoo's head. And its eyeballs glow and throw lasers. Sydney can pull that off and make it cool. Then again, Ottawa has those smiley face fireworks that only turn into a face two out of ten times, and those are cool in their own Canadian way.
The rest of Aussie Day was spent drinking more flat whites, eats in Chinatown, a doughnut smothered in Nutella, and trying to stay dry. Great memories being a fake Australian for a day.
Here's to more yummy bites and official touristy tours coming up!
