I run for ice cream

Yesterday started with a vigorous hill climb (ie a ten minute walk that felt difficult after two weeks of no exercise, hooray!) to get another beauty shot. A pretty church actually sits on top of this hill and it's lit up at night.

After all that huffing and puffing and change in elevation, we earned our breakfasts. I carb loaded after the walk.

It's going to be a month of stretchy waist pants after this trip. Man, was this good. The waiter offered to pay for a second plate of them, surprised I could finish pancakes so gigantic, if I thought I could eat them all. The competitive person inside me almost yelled, "bring them out!" but me and Lacey had places to be.

We hopped on a bus to Island Bay to go for a run. It was more of a run for a minute and take a bunch of pictures and then have an ice cream bar made of creme fraiche ice cream (uh, why didn't I know about these until just now and why aren't they in Canada?). That is the best kind of run. No running route is going to match this one for awhile.

The wind makes for great resistance training - and woozy airplane landings.

We grabbed some groceries back in town, ate some great food and then settled in for The Bachelor Australia!  The accents make it seem like you're watching a Saturday Night Live skit so it's hard to take it seriously (as seriously as one can take any version of the show).

The weather has been beautiful in Wellington. A lot of sunshine but not hot: it's like spring, so nice. I'm extra thankful for the sun in NZ, especially since this is more often a city of rain jackets than "jandals".
